Hi, my name is Audrey and I am currently a doctoral candidate in Instructional Technology & Media at Teachers College Columbia University, New York. I've been on LJ for a few years, which has led me towards my research. I'm hoping you would be so kind as to volunteer to be in my study. I'd appreciate it!

RESEARCH GOAL: To understand the educational, social and cultural significance of online journaling as seen within LiveJournal.

WHAT YOU'D DO:

1. Add EthnoAudrey to your Friends list. I will not be making any posts and will only be observing. This will occur between 1/10/07 - 5/10/07.

2. Complete a 45-minute online questionnaire.

3. If selected, I'd like to have a 30-minute Instant Messenger interview with you.

If you would like to participate, you will need to sign a consent form. Please email me at ah2070@columbia.edu and I will send it to you.

You must be 18 years or older.

After signing the consent form, please add EthnoAudrey to your Friends list. The name EthnoAudrey should serve as a reminder of your participation in the study.

Also, you will need to add somewhere on your Profile the following:
“I am participating in a research study from 1/10/07 – 5/10/07. Any comments made in my LJ may be viewed by the researcher.” This disclaimer is to let others know that as I will be reading your journal, I may read their comments as well but I will not be using any personal information about them.


EthnoAudrey reserves the right to present results in publication. All participants will be given pseudonyms in the presentation of data.

As a small gesture of appreciation, I will offer all participants a six-month paid account to LiveJournal.
